The Ralph M. Brown Act (The Brown Act) is California's “sunshine” law for local government. It is found in the California Government Code beginning at Section 54950. It requires local government business to be conducted at open and public meetings (for example: planning commission or council meetings), except in certain limited situations. WHEN GIVING A PUBLIC COMMENT, THE CITY CAN'T FORCE YOU TO STATE YOUR NAME OR YOUR ADDRESS, JUST FYI.
